'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith resumes battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the dramatic final moments of Swansea's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles amid the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful strike from distance, and his teammate immediately converted the rebound before racing off toward the crowd to celebrate, with supporters congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This capped an extraordinary recovery given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the latter period. During the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. He shared, "There was a fan trying to get our attention and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory secured a next round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that distance," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right flank after Orient changed shape. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way his former team played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are very good but even the basics and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It appears that they always find their target and they understand how to dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're all right and then abruptly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and attention just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at his former club and has swiftly done the same in his new home. At the London club he joined forces once more with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a loan at League Two Salford City, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think many athletes would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without much intensity. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that maturation for club and country, shining for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including home and away games against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This represents an incredible journey for the player from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his father, his father, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's single match for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was closed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "It was a extended travel and it was freezing," he recalls, grinning. "The week before, the academy prospects trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "The decision proved fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I understood I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm hugely grateful for the years at the club but it became apparent where I believed I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

It is the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to spend time with the lads but I'm aiming to be the following person to drive independently and driving. His teammate is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on public transport after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
